Sorry for my late update has been a bad weekend and I have not got much done.
Last Friday the briefing for ToFG was given to all eight players (2 groups of 4).
The rules are as follows,
Each player can either purchase a battalion or £50 worth of individual boxes with a £2 extra spending to balance out the odd 70p etc,
The first game in a 400pt game consisting of one HQ, one Troops and filling out the rest with Elite,Heavy or Fast units.
There will be five objectives in the first game Landing Pad. HQ Bastion, Shield Array, Manafactorum and Planetary Defence Bastion.
Deployment:
There has been a major warp storm throwing out guidance and identification markers all ships in the area have lost guidance and the warp is open up portal across the planet, due to the warp storm interfering with identification markers the planets automated defence have opened fire on every incoming vessel friend and fo.
As a result of this every incoming ship has been hit and forced to make emergency landings or just plane crash into the planet.
Deployment will work with randomly drawn numbers dictating your crash sight, the whole board is covered in 12" circle crash zones these do overlap one another so you could end up right in amongst one of your rivals!
You are unable to hold any unit in reserve everything turns up in the first turn in the hope of making the first game a mad scramble to either engage in close combat or get enough distance to make use of your range fire power.
Standard deep strike rules do not apply except that you are unable to assault in the first turn to give people the chance to avoid being destroyed in the first turn say like the orks charging into my tau.
Objectives:
Five objectives each giving a different bonus to who ever holds them at the end of the game.
Landing Pad: If you control the landing pad you are able to to call in reinforcements on turn two on a three plus and on a two plus in turn three.
HQ Bastion: Allows for one extra non named HQ unit to be fielded 150pts.
Manafactorum: Allows you to select one unit to re roll wounds when shooting.
Shield Array: Either give a unit with out an invun a five plus invun save including vehicles or improve on an existing save with plus one.
Planetary Defence Bastion: Gain the ability to call in a remote artillery barrage at Blast 3, strength 8, ap 4 once during any game.
These rules only apply if you control said objective as players will be able to launch surgical strikes to steel them away or destroy them.
Whoever controls one of the objectives at the end of the game receives one imperial uplink device for use in the second game I will explain the importance of this after the first game has been played.
The Armies:
Dave Sutherland playing Eldar,
Matt aka Stumpy playing Daemons,
Jonny Ellis playing Grey Knight,
Will Curran playing Orks
Jack Barry Meadows playing Imperial Guard
Mug playing Dark Elder
Kyle Dunn playing Imperial Fist Space Marines
Myself playing Tau
We have an excellent mix of races and it looks to be an amazing ToFG.
On a side note I have adjusted my paint scheme slightly adding a black stripe to the shoulder of my units in dedication to my farther who I have chosen to dedicate my army to.
Until next time may the dice gods watch over you!
Ch1
