Sorry for my late update has been a bad weekend and I have not got much done.
Last Friday the briefing for ToFG was given to all eight players (2 groups of 4).
The rules are as follows,
Each player can either purchase a battalion or £50 worth of individual boxes with a £2 extra spending to balance out the odd 70p etc,
The first game in a 400pt game consisting of one HQ, one Troops and filling out the rest with Elite,Heavy or Fast units.
There will be five objectives in the first game Landing Pad. HQ Bastion, Shield Array, Manafactorum and Planetary Defence Bastion.
Deployment:
There has been a major warp storm throwing out guidance and identification markers all ships in the area have lost guidance and the warp is open up portal across the planet, due to the warp storm interfering with identification markers the planets automated defence have opened fire on every incoming vessel friend and fo.
As a result of this every incoming ship has been hit and forced to make emergency landings or just plane crash into the planet.
Deployment will work with randomly drawn numbers dictating your crash sight, the whole board is covered in 12" circle crash zones these do overlap one another so you could end up right in amongst one of your rivals!
You are unable to hold any unit in reserve everything turns up in the first turn in the hope of making the first game a mad scramble to either engage in close combat or get enough distance to make use of your range fire power.
Standard deep strike rules do not apply except that you are unable to assault in the first turn to give people the chance to avoid being destroyed in the first turn say like the orks charging into my tau.
Objectives:
Five objectives each giving a different bonus to who ever holds them at the end of the game.
Landing Pad: If you control the landing pad you are able to to call in reinforcements on turn two on a three plus and on a two plus in turn three.
HQ Bastion: Allows for one extra non named HQ unit to be fielded 150pts.
Manafactorum: Allows you to select one unit to re roll wounds when shooting.
Shield Array: Either give a unit with out an invun a five plus invun save including vehicles or improve on an existing save with plus one.
Planetary Defence Bastion: Gain the ability to call in a remote artillery barrage at Blast 3, strength 8, ap 4 once during any game.
These rules only apply if you control said objective as players will be able to launch surgical strikes to steel them away or destroy them.
Whoever controls one of the objectives at the end of the game receives one imperial uplink device for use in the second game I will explain the importance of this after the first game has been played.
The Armies:
Dave Sutherland playing Eldar,
Matt aka Stumpy playing Daemons,
Jonny Ellis playing Grey Knight,
Will Curran playing Orks
Jack Barry Meadows playing Imperial Guard
Mug playing Dark Elder
Kyle Dunn playing Imperial Fist Space Marines
Myself playing Tau
We have an excellent mix of races and it looks to be an amazing ToFG.
On a side note I have adjusted my paint scheme slightly adding a black stripe to the shoulder of my units in dedication to my farther who I have chosen to dedicate my army to.
Until next time may the dice gods watch over you!

Update
Hey all,
I got a little carried away with my Fire Warriors, and by that I mean, I finished them and didn't take that many pictures :( sorry my bad.
I got some Fire Warriors and a bunch of other tau bits from a friend at my local GW,
Not the best models to work with in the world but it is a start.
My first thought when seeing these models was "oh hell how will I save these", I think I managed it though.
First off I undecorated them all in chaos black spray, this proved to cover up the not to brilliant paint job very well, I did however lose some detail.
Second I applied a coat of Mechrite Red onto all the armour sections, this gave me a good base red to work from.
Thirdly I mixed Mechrite Red and Red Gore 2/1 and layered over the original Mechrite.
Fouth I touched up all the material with Chaos Black, then used Adeptus Battlegrey to pick out the right shoulder and a section on the left shoulder pad.
Finally for the moment I washed the whole model in Badab Black to dirty it up a bit, then applied snow and grass to the base to give a change of season feel.
Still a little work to be done but so far so good any suggestions would be welcomed, I also built my broadside see below.
That's all for now catch you soon.

FIRST POST!
Hello,
My name is Carl, most people call me Chi, this is a nickname I picked up a few years back.
I have created this blog for one of my hobbies, Warhammer. I will be documenting my current projects and showing step by step process of the army(ies) I am currently working on.
I will also share tips and tricks that I have picked up over my 15 years of collecting, painting and playing. I am always looking to learn new things, so if you have any great techniques that you think are worth using, please let me know.
Onto my first project:
I have recently organised a 'Tale of Four Gamers' (if any of you do not know what this is check out this link ToFG Intro), my army of choice is a Commander O'Shovah (Commander Farsight) themed Tau army, so I have a few rules to stay within. For example, I can not have any Ethereals in my army and I can not have Farsight himself until we reach 1500pt games, so what did I pick for my first purchase for Game One?
Game One is a 400pt 40k in 40 minutes game with some slightly adjusted rules. I.e., the 2+ armour save is allowed.
I must have one HQ and one Troops choice only, I am not allowed another HQ or Troops choice, the rest of the 400pts must be either Fast, Heavy or Elite units.
HQ: I have picked a standard battle suit commander with two plasma rifles (these are great for knocking over things like terminators); iridium armour (2+ armour save); and a drone controller (two shield drones to take the flack from any instant death weapons).
Troops: One unit of Fire Warriors (twelve strong with two shield drones, a Shas'ui leading), these are all equipped with photon grenades, in case they get charged, and pulse rifles because of the the 30" range.
For my last choice, I have thrown all my points into a broadside battle suit, this is upgraded to a Sha'vre so he could get access to the battle suit upgrades. This allows me to give him a drone controller and two shield drones, enabling him to live long enough to actually do some damage.
So, these are my first purchases. My first unit to build and paint will be the Fire Warriors, these are the most fiddly and time consuming. I shall update this Friday with my progress and some pictures!
Until then, feel free to leave comments and ask questions, I'll answer as many as I can.
